Level 1 - Whereabouts of the Wind

At the end of each level's descriptions of tricks, the current fastest IL of that level will be provided to showcase some of the tricks explained.

Disclaimer: Some of the routes in the videos should not be used in SS runs due to heavy luck based gem routes. So learning routes is best done off of SS runs. Also, some ILs are out of date in terms of new discoveries and routing. These will be noted below the video if a significant change has not been implemented in the route.

Lake Hylia (1-1)

Get the Fire Rod a Room Early

Discovered by Lttp

Right after you enter the house to get the fire rod, go into C-Up formation and move a bit diagonally up to the left. If you press R, you should notice the Links going into the "stone slab lifting" animation. Once you've removed the stone, you can collect the fire rod and proceed.

Note: You can use the boomerang outside the house to then grab the fire rod in order to skip the old man's text.

Access Bridge Early

Discovered by Yadra121

It is possible to skip the entire section past Tingle, by using GBA OoB) under the bridge to access it early on.

Stay close to the wall, enter the bridge while the links are in C-Right formation and perform GBA OoB. After exiting the bridge again, switch to a different link and reunite.

Note: This makes the Chasm Skip obsolete.

Skip the First Chasm

Console Strategy by Sergi

When you get to the top of the waterfall, enter the middle cave. Get on the edge of the chasm against the right wall, then press c-right, followed by c-down, and then c-up immediately followed by a roll to begin a formation hover. Roll over to the other side and use a sword attack so that you see Red Link move forward and touch solid ground, then press X. After you've respawned, Red Link should be on the other side of the chasm.

Cave of No Return (1-2)

Small Key Skip

Discovered by Yadra121

By using a Freeze Clip in the second room where the first key is obtained, it is possible to save this key and thus skip the second one.

Block Room Timesaver

Discovered by Yadra121

It is possible to move the 2x2 blocks into unintended directions, which leads to a small shortcut in the third room with the blocks.

For the first block, position the links above it, to the left, and then press C-Up and simply move left. For the second block (the last one), press C-Down and wiggle the controlstick between up and right.

Hyrule Castle (1-3)

Owl Skip

Discovered by Yadra121

The Owl Skip skips the owl.

  1. Walk up on the left, get into C-Right formation and let Red face the diagonal (this is as close as you can get without stepping into the trigger)
  2. Roll upwards and press X* immediately after
  3. Reunite with C-Right, roll and press X* within a couple frames (this is very tight and must be executed precisely)
  4. If Blue is above the stone tile, pick up Red and press X to switch to Blue

*Using the digi pad might make this easier, however you must reposition your fingers first

Activate Switch without Pushing Block

Discovered by Yadra121

Once you've gotten up on the castle wall, it is possible to hit the switch without pushing the last block out of the way. To do this press B+R to hop and hold the analog stick Down-Left.

Advanced Route

After the first soldier fight (3rd screen), the route diverges. The advanced route skips bombs and a small key, and does deathless Barrier Skip. The routes merge after Barrier Skip.

By using FMC the Links can clip into the barrier.

Barrier Skip

Follow the video below for the setup.

Canon Section Skip

Discovered by Yadra121

On the TV-Screen before the boss battle, it is possible to skip the two GBA screens past the throne. The trick only saves like 5 seconds, but looks really cool. Mind that if you need backup gems (Gem count < ~1100), you should not do this trick, and get gems in the Canon section instead.

Enter the first GBA screen and do Jump Storage, exit the screen and press X as the storage gets released. After the jump, walk to the right, then enter the fight and exit it immediately after. You should be spawned in the wall, but can get out with some C-Formation changes and X inputs. Then, you can simply enter the Phantom Ganon Fight normally.

Phantom Ganon Fight in two Cycles

Discovered by Yadra121

By dealing the maximum amount of damage before Phantom Ganon recovers, it is possible to do this fight in only two cycles. However, the setup is precise, and the reward rather low. A quick 2 Circle can save about 3 seconds compared to a quick 3-Cycle, so that's not much. Per Cycle you want to hit 13 Jump Slashes and one charged poke with the sword. The key is to deal maximum damage per attack (4 JS at once) when PG only can take one more hit, so the setup is:

  1. Get in C-Up formation, execute 2 Jump Slash attacks (equals 8 JS)
  2. Select a single Link, do another JS, hold B to poke with the charged sword
  3. Get back into C-Up formation and do another Jump Slash attack

An alternate method is given below. It is a little faster than what is above.
